Fraxinus Prime Releases Debut Album Magnesium Heart Space

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it came out on January 11th, but that’s still super fresh to our ears.

For those of you not in the know, Fraxinus Prime is a solo project by Ashley Buchholz who you might be more familiar with as the lead vocalist and guitar stummer in Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker.

We here in the forest have been fans of U.S.S for a reaaallly long time, so it was a bummer when we heard they were taking a hiatus… but don’t worry cause they’re coming back for 4 sold-out shows at the Concert Hall in Toronto this June.

We still say they’re one of the best live acts you’ll come across (so hopefully you snagged a ticket!) and we love that they’re pretty local to our community, or at least, they’re basically like a stones-throw away over in Stouffville-Markham, Ontario on the other side of the 400.

Context aside, as the title suggests we’re here to recommend you listen to Magnesium Heart Space, Ash’s/Frax’s debut album.

U.S.S fans might think of it like the more subdued acoustic-based U.S.S tracks, like K.I.T with some extra vocal processing. Non-U.S.S fans might think of it as quirky atmospheric-acoustic music that is still highly lyrical, sometimes with a hypnotic underlaying groove.

Our stand-out track: No Way Out but Through

While we’re here we also have to turn your attention to Girl, the single Fraxinus Prime released with Vice Locker just last year. Seriously, try not to get sucked into that one – I’m constantly unconsciously reaching for my phone to throw it on.

Magnesium Heart Space is available everywhere you stream or you can purchase it on Bandcamp for a cool $7CAD.
