Sun’s out, Funzo. The Get Alongs Release Their Debut LP ‘Weather Permitting’

They’re coming in about as close to the wire you can get to make a play for best release of 2023 with the unveiling of their debut LP Weather Permitting (streaming today).

The band announced the record earlier today on their Instagram page and we hopped right over to give it a listen.

We were 3 songs deep into the record before we solidified the band as one to watch out for in 2024. They’ve got that classic rock and roll sound (not to be confused with classic rock or classic roll sound) full of great walking basslines and vocally, especially on tracks like The Roller, they enter a vibe not unlike that of The Jesus and Mary Chain’s April Skies.

The band teases the announcement of an album release show to commemorate Weather Permitting, but we put on our detective’s hat and already got the scoop (and our ticket).

The show goes down on January 26th at The Monarch Tavern (12 Clinton Street in Toronto) and features support by Irresponsible Purchase and Josh Pryce. Tickets are already available via Eventbrite for $10.

Looking for a little more? Here are some recommedations from the CF team.

The Jesus and Mary Chain – April Skies
TRASHCLUB – Burn Up, Burn Down
Radioactivity – Silent Kill
