It’s the first single off of Neither Could Dylan’s upcoming album Foxchase and it’s officially streaming everywhere today.
We asked NCD what it’s all about and here’s what she had to say:
Falling in love has the ability to completely alter your entire world. It can make your heart race, it can make you lose focus, it can even make you forget how to speak entirely.
Girls Like Me tells the lesser told story of a girl with a crush that leaves her feeling insecure and nervous every time she comes across the boy she admires. By the end of the song, unable to fully formulate how he makes her feel even within the confines of this melodic pop-rock song, she accepts the reality that no matter how deep your love for another, they simply might not ever feel the same about you. Instead, she ultimately finds joy and comfort in the simple act of imagining what could be and knowing how beautiful it is to have met someone that makes her feel as though one day she might find true love after all.
