That mood, embraced and made possible by the tasteful inclusion and subtle manipulation of Seals & Croft’s 70’s hit “Summer Breeze” however, only remains with us long enough to set the scene that’s to be promptly interrupted by a drastic scene change and the introduction to our leading lady, Nana Bangz herself.
From a summer breeze to a thunderous impact, Nana Bangz brings with her a surge of powerful energy that doesn’t suggest you turn your attention, but demands it wholly.
The production turns with her into an electrifying and aggressively heavy bass club beat that is almost combative in its urgency.
Reminiscent of rappers Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj, Nana Bangz isn’t afraid to put herself front and center as she embraces the raw emotions that seem to have inspired Alive which addresses toxic energy and her readiness to confront and exterminate the threats ahead of her.
While it’s unclear who, if anyone, is the intended target of this authoritative hype-track, Nana Bangz confidence is the real main attraction of the song. While the bass thumps on, the production slowly drizzles unique percussive and string elements that are every bit as captivating as Nana Bangz intense performance. Midway, the track breaks out and returns for a few moments to that perfectly selected Seals & Croft sample and the arrangement reminds us of Alive’s cinematic qualities that make it so appealing to visualize a story along it.
By the end of the track, we’re on the edge of our seat for more and we’re at least a little fearful that she could come busting through our door at any time if we’re not ready for her.
No doubt, Nana Bangz is not just alive, she’s a force to be reckoned with.
