I was fortunate to meet recording artist Maneframe over Threads recently over our mutual love of catchy pop-punk, but Maneframe dabbles in all sorts of different sonic landscapes and when they told me they had an instrumental record coming out, I had to have a listen.
Mellow Melodies is available on all streaming services today and it boasts an impressive 15-song track list. You might hear the words mellow and instrumental and think it’s just something to throw on in the background while you do the dishes, but these tracks are every bit as engaging and moving as any chart-running pop hit.
If you like your instrumental vibes with a taste of the universe that give the ere of calmly floating in space among the stars and longboarding along Saturn’s rings, you’ll feel right at home here.
Bop along to “Urban Oasis” while you hit the streets for your afternoon walk to the coffee shop, get lost in deep meditative practice with the zen-like “8-Bit Breeze”, cool down after the gym with “Windscape Sea”, nestle in with a good book with “Concrete Canopy” or drift off to sleep with the slow burning “Whispering Woodlands”.
There’s a little something for every taste in this collection, but it’s definitely best enjoyed in a single sitting from top to bottom to really be able to fall into it.
If I had to describe Mellow Melodies as a single act, it’s like finding that private hammock at the beach that sways every so effortlessly as you settle into it, bringing forth a sense of calm, ease and gratitude for the simplest pleasures of life.
