Released today is a brand new music video by Toronto based indie artist Alex Southey.
“Never Listen” comes off Alex’s 2022 EP Common Fantasies that we told you about back in January and we’ve BEEN listening, Alex and we’ll KEEP listening, thank you very much.
Honestly ever since I heard this track I’ve been having a little trouble placing it. It’s holds a really relaxed vibe that reminds us of a meeting between Travis and The National but with the subtle ambient textures of artists like mewithoutyou. The combination of Southey’s moody folk songwriting and the dreamlike crooning that sits in between create a feeling of escapism that you can’t help but want to get lost in.

You can catch Alex live tonight at the legendary Horseshoe Tavern (370 Queen Street West) with Harmony on Mars, Velvet Beach and Willem James Cowen. Tickets are $10 at the door. This is a 19+ event. Doors at 8:30PM.
