Alex Southey is a indie-rock artist from Toronto, Ontario blending soulful blues and intimate folk storytelling to create a heart-pumping melodies that are as enchanting as they are tormenting.
Their latest release “Common Fantasies” comes from their 2022 EP of the same name released on December 16th; it’s a cavernous alternative rock song that would sit nicely somewhere between fellow Canadians The Glorious Sons or The Dirty Nil. It’s gritty and powerful and you just know it’d make the glasses rattle at the Horseshoe Tavern.
We’re going to go ahead and dub Alex Southey as one of our emerging Canadian artists to watch out for (we’ve never done this before, we’ll fine tune the title eventually).
You can catch Alex live this Thursday in Toronto at the Horseshoe Tavern with support from Tired Kid, Fjord Mustang and The Pacifiers or on their upcoming southern Ontario dates in Gueph, Kitchener, Peterborough and Ottawa. All information for upcoming shows can be found on their website or bandcamp page.
