As with the rest of the world we have been horrified to watch the ongoing conflict play out in Gaza between Israel and Palestine.

It is unfathomable that there continue to be attacks on Gaza and occupied Palestinian territories and for so many innocent lives to be impacted.

You would think that we as a collective people would have learned by now that there is nothing to be gained from such reckless acts of violence, but here we are.

We are calling upon our fellow Canadians to sign this online petition addressed to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in calling for an immediate ceasefire.

As written in the petition:

• Canada demand an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Palestine conflict;
• Canada ask that Israel lift the blockade of the Gaza Strip and authorize the creation of a humanitarian corridor and an emergency humanitarian intervention;
• Canada ask that Israel meet its commitments under the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law;
• Canada meet its international commitment to promote and defend human rights;
• Canada take any other measure necessary to protect civilians, both Israelis and Palestinians, and help foster a climate conducive to building a lasting peace.
