If we weren’t keen to the inside scoop, today’s special acoustic release of You Can Do Better Than Me might’ve come as a bit of a surpirse.
Recorded today after a litle back and fourth about which direction to take the cover, Death Bus has been sitting on this one for a little while.
“I’ve been wanting to step away from Death Bus for a while, but I knew it needed a proper send off. After relistening through Narrow Stairs, You Can Do Better Than Me was the only sensible choice for it at this time,” they said in an exclusive interview from home.
Does this mean the end of Death Bus for Blondie for good?
“I can’t say for good. There have been a lot of tracks I still wanted to dive into and mess around with that I just haven’t had the time to. So it might be back in the future, but probably not for a while. I think we just need a little space and to wait until inspiration strikes again.”
With Treble Charged sneak peeks popping up over the CF socials the last couple weeks, there are no shortage of cover songs coming down the tree trunks here and we know Neither Could Dylan has already been dilligently working on new original songs (a follow up to Foxchase? So soon?), so rest assured there’s a lot more to come.
In the meantime, catch up on Death Bus’s existing cover song series over on YouTube:
