When you think of Tuscany, you probably think about the rolling hills of the countryside, full of the world’s best winemakers bustling away in expansive vineyards, or perhaps your mind drifts to the coastal towns and their cobblestone roads, quaint cafes serving fresh creamy lattes with sweet treats to ease you into a relaxing morning strolling in and out of artisan shops.
It shouldn’t, but it might surprise you then to also imagine that somewhere down one of those bustling streets there might be a band crafting sorrowful ballads and driven rock songs full of chunky riffs and melodic licks reminiscent of Van Halen, Whitesnake and Def Leppard.
Formed in Montecatini Terme, Hand on Heart is exactly that. With a classic rock sound that would feel at home nestled next to iconic acts like Leatherwolf or Scorpions, the four players that make up the band have in different ways already had experience accompanying one another on various other projects spanning decades before they turned to each other to form Hand on Heart.
The chemistry that kept them coming back to each other is palpable on their recordings. Most recently, Hand on Heart released Angel, an emotional song in which singer Ginaluca Niccolli bares all to his true love, yearning for their affection and hopeful that the light that once lit between them will burn once again. It’s the fourth single in advance of the band’s upcoming debut album that is currently in production.
If you’re a hopeless romantic with an affinity for gut-wrenching hard-arena rock ballads, you’ll want to get your mic ready to sing along to Angel at next week’s karaoke jam.
Hand on Heart is:
Gianluca Niccoli: Vocals, Keyboards
Alessandro Moschini: (Ex G.L.A.S., ex H.A.R.E.M.) Bass
Christian Evans: Guitar
Sergio Leonetti: Drums
